The Kazimir Malevich Artist Award was founded in 2008 in honour of the artist's 130th anniversary of the date of birth. The „MALEWICZ" Award has been founded by the Polish Institute in Kyiv to honour the memory and affirm Malevich, an artist of polish decent, who was born in Kyiv, Ukraine.

I The Aim of The Award:

  • To draw to the attention of the Ukrainian Elite, the Ukrainian roots of Poles (people of polish decent) who have attained global acclaim.
  • To emphasize/highlight the role of Poland, as a country that celebrates the artistic accomplishments of Ukrainian Contemporary Artists in context of a shared Polish-Ukrainian cultural heritage;

A large number of Poles where born in Ukraine, who's artistic accomplishments became a part of  the world  cultural  domain.
